A pet ID tag lives close to the collar, the coat and the outdoors. A little care helps keep it clean, attractive and easy to read over time.
Clean gently and regularly
Most tags only need a soft cloth and a little warm water. Wipe away dust, mud or traces from daily wear, then dry the tag carefully before putting it back on the collar.
Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh cleaners, especially on enamel or polished finishes.
Protect the engraving
The engraving should remain clear. If dirt settles into the letters, use a soft cloth or a very soft brush. Do not scrape the surface aggressively, as this can dull the finish.
Check the ring and attachment
Cleaning is also a good moment to check the split ring. Make sure it is closed, not twisted and still secure. A beautiful tag is useful only if it stays attached to the collar.
Adapt care to the material
Stainless steel is very easy to maintain. Brass can develop a natural patina over time. Enamel should be cleaned gently to preserve its color and shine.
With simple care, your pet’s tag can stay readable and beautiful through everyday walks, naps and adventures.
